numbers 26- Bonhomme

The legal implications of the word household, as we discussed in class, is apparent in Numbers verse 26. The importance of land, or the holding, also becomes apparent. This suggests that the family as a unit gains a certain legitimacy when it is connected with the household. The family itself seems to become both recognized and protected when alloted with land. Thus the concept of family and household as a legal entity has to do with a connection to a place that that entity has ownership over. What is interesting is that the family in American society often times does not have actual ownership over their land. Financing options for purchasing a home make it so that a family may not truelly own their home nd land for over a decade. How does this influence the family dynamic. Furthermore, when home and land are taken away from a family, how are the ties that link the members of the family together strained/changed?
